Information on the opening: We will have a soft opening from 9th November for public viewing and the official opening will be 16th NOVEMBER for artist and guests to enjoy a glass of wine and food. There will be light musical entertainment as well.

ARTIST STATEMENT
‘Macooloona Lutruwita’ (Charcoal Drawings from Tasmania) Artist Statement Born and raised in Ulverstone, in north-western Lutruwita (Tasmania), Louise Daniels is a Palawa Trawlwoolway woman who grew up in a large family where someone was always making something. She has a lifelong interest in the visual arts, and has enjoyed the opportunity to focus on art studies and practice over the past eighteen years. Daniels is a multimedia artist whose practice includes landscape paintings, charcoal and mixed media drawings, and figurative wire sculpture. Over the past decade Daniels has exhibited in numerous solo and group exhibitions and been selected as a finalist in many state and national art awards. Her works are held in private and government collections in both Australia and overseas, including the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery, Central Coast Council Tasmania, and the Tasmanian Department of Health. Daniels holds a Bachelor of Contemporary Arts (Honours) Degree and a Master’s Degree in Education Studies from the University of Tasmania. She is also a published researcher and much of her recent research and artwork explore and re-present the stories of her people and her ancestors. In this exhibition, Macooloona Lutruwita, Daniels presents a large collection of charcoal drawings and mixed-media works which deal with themes around identity and Country, the female existence, and the human condition.
